Old Cedar jn the Grove

Wanted to try to do a diptych. The cedar painting, still unfinished, lent itself to that, according to the instructor. It was an interesting exercise to get the two to match and yet let each have it's own compositon etc. This is a huge cedar in a grove of old trees. The light there was surreal. The tree had a glow to it even though the day was dark and cloudy.
It reminded me of the old furnaces people used to have with all the pipes jutting out hither and thither-extremely massive and like an octopus.
